Terra Cognita

To better know

It is all very well to travel at the end of the world or to send a rocket for Mars to discover unexplored places. But the Mediterranean, there remain lots of unstudies islands and islets.
To inventory yet unexplored islands for their flora and fauna, to undertake genetic studies on a lizard population which have evolved in isolation allowing adaptation to a particular habitat, to improve our understanding of the natural history of an archipelago or to update the data concerning  a site already possessing a management plan... here are the objectives of this programme. Entomologists, botanists, ornithologists, herpetologists, mammal experts, geologists, all of the naturalist sciences can strengthen the knowledge of the PIM, in order to improve scientific research, but especially to insure the protection of this world heritage.
